Bicycle Drive for Refugees

Refugees come from crowded camps and life-threatening conflict zones around the world. Many have waited years for a place to call home. With support from the community, each year the International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps approximately 600 refugees from more than 12 countries build new lives in Dallas.

REI and Spokes for Folks have organized a Bicycle Drive to benefit newly arrived refugees. When you give a bicycle to the IRC, you are helping a refugee become more self-reliant in our community by providing a reliable mode of transportation to work. A receipt for your donation will be sent to your home address.

When you donate a bike to the IRC, you will receive an offer for 10% off one full-price Novara bicycle or 15% off one full-price item of Novara apparel or gear from REI Dallas. Spokes for Folks is providing maintenance on all donated bicycles.

  • Donate bicycles at REI Dallas from June 23 – July 2 during regular business hours.

CyclingSavvy DFW is also proud to partner with the IRC to provide a portion of the Truth & Techniques of Traffic Cycling workshop to refugees receiving bicycles. We strongly believe that an educated cyclist is an empowered cyclists, and we are excited to provide the skills and techniques to help these new cyclists to ride with safety and confidence.

For more information about the Bicycle Drive, email Alba Torres or visit the IRC Dallas website.
